Ezra C. Hatton Collection (c.00235)

Ezra Caves Hatton (sometimes spelled Hatten) was born September 6, 1813 in England. Around 1846 he moved from New York to Michigan. He married Melvina Davis (1826-1920) in 1844 in Detroit, Michigan. They had two daughters, Melvina (1848-1920) and Eudora (1852-1921). He enlisted in 22nd Michigan Infantry on July 26, 1862. Commissioned a captain on July 31, 1862 in Company A. Promoted to Brevet Lt. Colonel on March 13, 1865. Commissioned an officer in the U.S. Volunteers Adjutant General Department Infantry Regiment on June 8, 1865. He remained for a period of four years in Huntsville, Alabama. In 1869, he moved the family to Howell, Michigan. He died July 26, 1877.
