Friend Sarah Yours of Jan 9th was recd last Sunday but as I have been on duty ever since I had not time to answer it until this evening Was glad to hear your health was so good and hope it will continue so My health is quite good this winter we have plenty of duty and enough to eat so we get along quite well We are yet in Nashville and I guess we will stay here a long while longer the army in front of us are about ready to move and I think will stay to guard this town I do not get many letters from Fentonville lately and think that I will have to give some of them a talking to I have been to Church several times but it does not seem at all like home I am sorry that you have not had any sleigh rides yet but hope that before this time you have made up for lost time but it is so very late I must close trusting to your goodness to excuse this short letter and hoping to hear from you again soon I remain your true friend and well wishes Edwin H.
