Dear Mother
	Not having heard from you
in some time I thought it best to write a word to
aprise you of our [welfare?] 
	We are encamped at this town on an
Island in the Tenn River are very busy now as our
Monthly work is just commencing.
	Thare is a great Battle being fought and
one does not feel like writing news. at all so you will 
please excuse me this time we are comparitively out of
danger so do not worry about us.
