Head Quarters Detacht 10 Mich Infy Soldiers Rest No 2 Nashville, Tenn. April 30 1864 Dear Mother We reached this place Sunday last. had a good trip were provided with good Coach Cars as far as the Ohio River. from there we came in Box or Freight Cars. My health is good that Cough that had troubled me for so many months has nearly deserted me, yet its shadow is at times visable much to my annoyance. The [3rd Regt?] started for the front Wednesday morning were obliged to go afoot, as transportation could not at that time be obtained by so doing they will probably avoid a fight, for it is evident that our action is near at hand. The reason of my being here is because I chose not to march to Chattanooga consequently was left in charge of the Regimental property. am to conduct the same safely to C-- by Rail or otherwise as best I can. I have written to Fred, & Augustus, this week. Do not expect to hear from me again very soon as my time will be all employed in Official duty, for a period after our arrival at Chattanooga We expect to start Tuesday or Wednesday next. Should there be any mail there for me please forward as per address hear from Hoping to ^ you soon I remain Ever Your son, Ed. F.
