Camp at Stone River Tenn. Nov 23d/62 Dear Sarah. Once more I improve a few moments in writing to you. it is a beautiful Sunday afternoon. it almost makes me wish I were at home to go to Church. although I had near forgotten what they do thare it is so long since I have been to meeting. it is a long while since I wrote to you. although I write since I recd any from you. I really hope you have not forgotten me. but I thought as I was writing to Mother I would write a word to you. to tell you your duty. We are encamped on Stone River ten miles East of F Nashville. it is a splendid place to camp. & I am writing on with the rocks on the bank of the river. for a desk. I can look down nearly 50 feet of rocks. piled one on the other to the water. We left [illegible in original] about two weeks ago. and have had it quite easy ever since. having been on Picket only twice in the time I suppose you will have nise times taking sleigh rides. this winter I wish I were thare to enjoy them with you. you must enjoy yourselves as well as possible. we have only seen snow once this fall. but for the last week we have seen rain enough & it seems good to have the sun come out again. but I mus stop for this time as it is nearly night. Be sure to write soon & often write all the news. Good Bye Yours Truly Edwin Sarah. A. Marsh P.S. direct to Edwin F. Holmes Co. H. Tenth. Regment. Michigan Infantry.
