My Own Loved Emma.
			   Your letters
for some cause or other of late _
Come tohand very iregularly _ I have
only had one letter from you
in five weeks _ why is this Emma?
	I am not writing this for
a letter _ but as a note.
			  I have been
appointed an Asst. Adjutant Genl.
with the rank of Captain _ by the
Military Governor of the state of
Tennessee _ and assigned toduty
with Colonel John McDonald
Commanding 1.[illegible in original] Brigade
Enrolled Militia Dist.ofMemphis _
     there is about six thousand soldiers
in Our Brigade _ we may be
Ordered Out toward Chattanooga
