From Murfreesboro to Chickamauga and Libby Prison
An original dictation of Dr. Henry A. Goodale's experience as a surgeon in the Civil War. The account tells of his experience in battle at Murfreesboro and Chickamauga; how he helped wounded soldiers both on and off the battlefield; and his time as a prisoner and release from Libby Prison. Note: The copy given to the archives has the last sentence stating, "This account has been copied from the original which was dictated to Dr. Harry Goodale's granddaughter, Lillian Goodale." A more correct statement would be "...was dictated to Dr. Henry Goodale's granddaughter, Lillian Goodale." Henry Goodale's son was known as Harry (born 1886).
