Jannary the 14, 63 Dear Sister I received your kind and affectionate Letter Dated of the 8 and was glad to hear from you and the rest and to hear that you was well and Enjoying good health but I am not, I am not any better There is a Man from Michgan here and his Name is [Stoll?] he is after his Wifes Brother and he has got the Consumption they start to Moraw or next Day for Mich the sick man belongs to our Regiment the one that came after him is some Relation to Fink and Elaridge he is a fine Man Mary I tried to get my Picture taken to send to Mother by him but could not I shall get it taken and send it by Mail to her I wrote to Ann and am agoing to send it by Mail to her we have the finest weather that you ever saw it is as as Pleasant as summer Mary I have Travaild through Town to Day a considerable there is not many very sick in this Hospital at present but they expect 100 in a Day or To of sick and Wonded Mary I have bin trying to get to go to the Regiment for three Months back and the Doctor says that he wont let me go until I get well and I am as well now as I have bin for 4 Months Back I am not well and wont be for one year or more to come and he also says that I never will be fit for the service again but they dont feel disposed to send me home wall I guess that I can stand it a little longer Mary I am bound to go to the Regt before Spring if they dont send me home which there is not any Danger of at Present all that I am and all I have shall be forever thine what 'ere my Duty Bids me give my Cheerful [Hands?] Resign Mary write soon your kindly C M Ferdon
