Dear Sister
	     I take this
oppertunity to write to
you to let you know
that I am still in the 
land of the living and
enjoying a very good degree
of health although my 
eyes are quite soar I think
I shall go to the regt next
week if my eyes get better
I got my pay yesterday
I got 105 Dollars I Sent 80 
Dollars home I got my
   likeness taken 4 times
  to day I shall send you
one in this letter and I
sent one to Ann one to Mother
and one to Lucy they dont
show my eyes very well
for the light hurt them
there is no news to write
