	        I take this oppert
unity to inform you that
I am back in prison or worse
in the Hospt my health is
not as good as it was when
I left home the doctor has
promised me a examination
then I Shall either go to the
regt or come home for I am
bound to com get out of the
Hospt if I die in the attempt
I could get nothing done for
me in Detroit Fishbeck is in
town on provost guard he
feels first rate we will muster
for pay in about two weeks
then I expect to get about
60 Dollars if they Settle up my

Clothing bill the boys are
talking prety Strong of
taking [Trench? French?] Furloughs if
they [illegible in original] dont give them in yankee
Style the news from the
army at Chatanooga is all right
Rosy has been reinforced by Grant
and Burnside Bragg must get out
of the way now or he will get
another whipping tell mother
to make me some apple Butter
if she knows how I tell you
Sis the fare we get here is not fit
for hogs to eat we haz cold boiled
beef and bread for breakfast this
morning and dont get any
thing better for dinner or
Supper it Seems hard that
after a man has given his
health to his Country he
must give his life to the
doctors but so it is in hundreds
of cases but it will not be so

in mine for I will get out
if I have to desert I have said
that I would die before I would 
desert but when I think it is
the doctors and not the govern
ment that are bound to take
my life it is more than I
can easily put up with if I
could die on the battle field fig
hting for the old flag I would
willingly do it but murder
I cant stand I hope they will
Send me to the regt I have
written 8 letters before this since
I came back and I have writen
all that I can think of so
you will have to excuse that 
letter this time and I will try
to write more next time good
