Camp in the Field Sept 20th 1864 Dear Sister I have good news to transmit to you from this department yesterday we gained a great victory we have rs now two thousand five hundred Prisne besides three Thousand killed and wounded that the rebels left on the field the rebs lost nine Generals we lost four our Loss in killed and wounded is about twenty five Hundred we have drove them about fifteen miles since yesterday morning and am still after them the cavelry is fetching in prisinors all the time in squads of ten to twentyfive.
