Dallas Ga May 28th [1864] Dear Sister The mail boy brought me your letter last night as we were lying in line of battle & as he is going back this morning I will write a few words. We are relieved to Allow us a few hrs rest & sleep. Have gone 200 yds to the rear into a piece of woods I am unhurt as yet but the fight is not over. Since leaving Gordons Mills our brig has fought at Tunnel hill, Buzzards roost, Dalton, Snake Gap, Resacca, Rome, & are now fighting here. Old Dan’s our div com’dr can beat the Devil marching troops. He marches all night & fights all day. We [gained?] 30 hrs going from Resacca to Rome. I am chafed all raw & my feet all of a blister, but I am in good spirits & all right. We are going to whip the rebs here & one more place (I forget the name) & then for Atlanta. I cant write more they are calling for the mail Horace
