North Carolina March 13th /.65 Dear Parents it is with pleasure that I embrace this opportunity of writing you a few lines I am well and hope these few lines will find you enjoying the same blessing. we are now within four or five miles of Kingston and it is now in our hands we left Wilmington the sixth and have marched every day since. and we have had a very hard march of it to. the mud has been knee deep over half way and where there was not mud there was nothing but sand over a mans shoes and that is worse than mud but enough of this when you write tell me all the news and write soon as I have not heard from home in a long while. Warren is well and Arnold is left at Wilmington sick how are the folks around our House when you write tell me. does Ellen still enjoying of a whole heart tell her to write to me as soon as she can. I have not heard from Alice or Lucinda in a long time and I want them to write to me as soon as they can and I want you to send me some postage stamps as soon as you write or I shall have to stop writing as it is an imposibility for me to get them here Give my love to as and keep a good share for you self only Six months more to stay away from you.
