Israel states he has less than four months left to serve, but he can already relax because the governor of North Carolina, Zebulon Vance, as well as the President of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis, were recently captured. Israel claims that Union soldiers and paroled Confederate prisoners get along very well in Salisbury, NC, since both sides are relieved the conflict is just about over.
