[Penciled in on top] [3-15-63] 1863 March 15th Bowling Green Ky Dear My verry ^ Pa and Ma as I felt quite Smart today I thought I would improve the chance and write you a letter I have recieved two letters from Home Since I have been in the Hospital one of them was dated or mailed and I forget when now the 14th of January and that had no news in to me because I have to many Since it date the other one that I got was mailed March 7th and I Got it the 11th. and it told me the agreeable news that Part of my Money had got where it is in good hands have you recieved my leter with 8 dollars yet I sent it. I cannot tell you the day of the Month not having my account book here but it was in Feb along towards the latter Part pretty well. If you have got not got it it is time it was there and it has been delayed Some where on the roa road by Some good friend of money verry likely but I Guess you have got it by this time at least I hope so I requested you in the the letter to give Grandma 2 dollars of it and give Fannie 50 cents as I Sent her nothing when I did the rest now when you write tell me all the news and tell Dick that I will write to him as soon as I can how many rats has he killed. when he writes tell him I want to know. tell Tyson that I will n answer his letter as soo^ as I am Stout enough I am quite weak yet but am on the gain quite fast. write as soon as you get this did you get the letter George wrote for me last week I was pretty hard up but wrote you a bgars letter but I hope I can pay you some [way?] I guess at least I can try it. now as I think of it Pa wanted to know how I liked his letters [crossed out] [tell him] I like them verry much they sound cheering. now as I am tired I shall have to Stop.
