Dear Parents
		I recieved your verry
welcome letter of the 9th first
of the month and was glad to
hear from home once more.
I had not heard from you
before in as much as a
month and I began to be
Lonesome I can tell you I am
well at the present and hope
these few lines will find you 
the same. I recieved a letter
from aunt Lucinda and
charley when you write to them
tell Charley that I was verry
glad to hear from him and
hope he will continue to write
to me and as soon as I can
get a ten cent stamp I will
write to him. over the Leaf


I am glad your crops are
so good how is the wheat in
Locke. now about the pony
I will talk about buying her
some other time. when you
write tell me whether you have
paid the taxes on my lot
or not ÷ I was Sorry to hear
that Gates was such a Devil
incarnate as he is I am glad
that aunt Mary is agoing to
leave him to his own destruction
we left Glasgow on Monday last
and Marched for lebanon. we got
here the last of July. Port Hudson
& Charleston are both ours. I am
glad you have another good neigh
bor in Locke in the Person of
uncle Marches son where does
he live. I was verry glad of
the stamps as I was surely
out of them I am glad that
you have a store so handy

    Dear Ma as you wrote
me a few lines in the
letter I will answer them now
your likeness is as natural as
life and is a good deal of
company for me I broke my
case on the march how is
Grandma and all of the
folks over that way when 
you write tell me. and
tell me al the news
the prospect here is that the
war will close in a verry
short time by fall at
any rate if not before
tell Fanny and willie to
be good children and mind
Pa and ma. Send me
their likeness if you 
posibly can. write often
and hope for the best 
I was verry glad of the 
paper and want you to

send me another as soon 
as you can good bie for
the present.
