Oct 28th 1862 Camp Lexington K.Y. Sister Emma Good Morning how do you do and the rest of the folks do this morning I am well as for the other boys that you know I do not know how they are for yesterday they went to the city for provost guard I was on guard at camp so I could not go I am not very sorry either the boys thought that it was going to be fun but I guess that they dont find it quite as nice as they expected for Lieut Reed was up here last night and said that they had not been relieved that ^d wont be so mity fine to stan around in the streets all night yesterday I saw some cars for the first since we left camp Walace they looked like home (it was only co. A that went to the city) There is some very handsome places in Kentucky nice horses and yards but no barns to amount to any thing hardly ever find one [crossed out] [biger] larger than Fathers. I have just been over to Co. I. to see if Charlie wanted to send any word but he is going to finish one of his own to day he thinks so you may have to read the same thing over twice but that wont make you feel very bad. I have got my dinner on just been out to the railroad to see a train of cars go a long they moved as though they had some life in them there were some passengers The boys are making so much noise that I cannot think so I will stop for for the present.
