		I once more take
up my pen to write a
fue lines to let you know
that I am well at presant
and hope that this will
find you the Sam.  Wee are
now firing on the old
battle field whare wee
fot one year and a half
a go it is on the [illegible in original]


it is a hard plais to fite
a battle for it is all woods
and Swamp land but I
think that wee will have
Ritchmond this time for
wee have whiped them this
far wee have drove them
over [illegible in original] miles and pity
if wee cant drive them
seven miles more: our rigement
has lost one hundred and
fifty killed and wounded
So far and wee are likly to
los three times that before
wee are dun with it but
I have bin lucky So fare
but They tride to kill
me several times but
have not maid out yet
our rigement maid a
charge on the enemy rifle
pits last night and wee took


them and held them but
it was hard work the dead
