ky Burnside Point July 12th 64 Dear wife I write to inform you that my health is first rate we started from out old camp the 8th we have been here 2 days we are guarding a large drove of horses and mules and a train of wagons over the mountains I expect we will go to Georgia it is about 3 hundred miles I wrote you and sarah a letter before we started I sent you 25 dollars and sarah 2 which I hope you will get you must write to me often and never forget me my affections are the same *for you and the children that they always have been and I am looking forward for the day when we Shall be happy together again you must keep your matters as straight as you can and hope for better days I hope this wae will come to an end this year but it is hard to tell I expect*** to get **** some mail from home when the rest of the regiment come up we expect them to day we are waiting for them my love and best respects to you all write all [] from your old friend and husband give this five cents to my big jesse boy and 40 kisses to I must bid you farewell and gods blessing for this time Jesse Taft
