Dear wife I write to inform
you that my health is first
rate we started from out
old camp the 8th we have
been here 2 days we are
guarding a large drove of
horses and mules and a train
of wagons over the mountains
I expect we will go to
Georgia it is about 3 hundred
miles I wrote you and sarah
a letter before we started
I sent you 25 dollars and
sarah 2 which I hope you
will get you must write
to me often and never forget
me my affections are the same
*for you and the children
that they always have been
and I am looking forward

for the day when we
Shall be happy together
again you must keep your
matters as straight as you
can and hope for better days
I hope this wae will come to
an end this year but it is
hard to tell I expect***
to get **** some mail from
home when the rest of the 
regiment come up we expect
them to day we are waiting 
for them my love and best
