oct 19th/64 Camp 1 ½ miles for Atlanta Ga wife and children Dear I write to inform you that I am well and tough at present and hope you all are the same I recvd jennette letters a short time ago was Glad to hear you was all well our brigade is here to help hold Atlanta the most of our corps has gone back towards Chatanooga to fight rebels they have cut the rail road several times lately which the cause I have not written to you before you see when they cut the road it stops the mail we got 2 months bag a few day ago and as soon as it sage I will send some money home these will be 2 months more hay due us in ten days Williams battery has gone to the rear with Gen Sherman I have not heard from him in 2 weeks yesterday I saw George adgate ed goodnuff and johin varnum and also a cousin of mine By name enoch Reynolds his folks live in Canada he lives in marshall mich his mother and mine were sisters I was glad to see but I should be more glad to see my good wife and Children and hope I shall in a dew more months I have not had any horses in this six weeks I have but little to do I stand picket twice a week only about 100 rods from camp you must write often I will write again in a few days my best respects to all but the greatest share to yourselves I shall probably express my money I will let you know so no more remain your old friend and husband kiss jesse for me Jesse Taft write all particulars
