Dear daughters jennette
and sarah I write to let
know that I am well
these few lines will
find you all well
and right I recvd
your kind and welcome
letters yesterday and was
glad to hear from you
yesterday there was 25 of 
our men sent to Savannah
to attend to leading hay
and grain and I went 
with them where I []
we are expecting to
march soon but
we have had 4 dats
heavy rain and the roads 
are awful and

the rebs are running like
the devil from one place
to another so it is hard
to find them I heard
from [] there regiment
has gone to Augusta 130
miles from here if
I have had know he
was in the 13th I might
have sung? for [?]
been about 6 miles
from Savannah
the most of the time
since we [?]
I hope ma has got the
letters with the 20
dollars in before
this time that was
the first letter I sent
from it was dated
the 18th of Dec
