Mount sterling ky June 22d 1863 My Dear woman I again write to inform you that I am well and hope you all are the same I have been looking for a letter from you for 4 or 5 days but get none so I thought I would write again we are moving quite often last Friday we moved 4 miles we dont know how long we shall stay in a place there is rebels in the mountains about 20 miles from here but I think not a great many we have pickets guards out 2 or 3 miles to day but it proved to be a false alarm we saddled our horses and got into line but did not go out of Camp I don't think we [] shall have any [serious?] fighting to do very soon this is very fine country but [] water I got (line crossed through) I have not heard from wm since I wrote you last [] we don't have much to do at present except when we march I send you one dollar in money and use it for that you most need you must write how little jesse gains talking and what he says about me and how the boys gets a long with the work and how the Crops looks the horses Cattle and hogs [pokes?] Colts and so on and how the folks do generally w hether the girls go to school steady or not and where jennette is Dave Dodge is well but Cant talk loud yet and I don't think he never will [?] is as big a fool as ever the health of the regiment is pretty good you must write often as you can tell the girls to write to I cant think of any more [?] of importance to day so yours in love good By my Dear Mary Jesse Taft
