Harrison Traphagen writes to his parents from Camp Benton, noting that he is doing well however Cornelius Quick died the previous day. He details that the boys at camp raised enough money to purchase Quick a nice coffin and have his remains be sent home. Traphagen continues by writing that Quick was one of the best boys in the company, who was respected by all who knew him. Traphagen continues by noting that he received a pair of pants for Christmas, and that the sabres and horses the Regiment had been waiting for finally arrived. Traphagen concludes by detailing that another Regiment left that morning toward the railroad that the Rebels most recently destroyed.
