Harrison Traphagen writes to his brother from Camp Benton, noting that he is doing well and while the weather is cold there is no snow. Traphagen details that the mumps are going around, and that John Ackerson Edwards and Andrews had them. He also writes that one person has died from smallpox but the entire Regiment has now been vaccinated against it. Traphagen details that there is no chance of their Regiment being discharged, and that they are planning to go to Kansas with Jim Leane. Traphagen concludes his letter by writing that if he can gather the money, he will have his picture taken and sent home.
