David R. Frego writes to his brother from Dismounted Camp, noting that he has been very sick with Bilious Fever but is doing considerably better. Frego details that for breakfast they had codfish, potatoes, coffee, bread and butter, and an onion, and proceeds to note the current prices for butter and potatoes. Frego writes that he is glad to hear his brother received the money, and that he would have sent more had he not been ill. Frego continues by inquiring how much wheat has come in, then notes that it is very hot, comparing Washington D. C. to Hell. Frego concludes by detailing that while he knows it is the Fourth of July, it does not feel like it.
