David R. Frego writes to his sister Lavina E. Frego from Dismounted Camp, sharing a lengthy poem he composed detailing how "Lee got whipped at Gettysburg." Throughout the poem, Frego notes the poor rations and learning of Rebel tactics. Frego continues by describing General Meade's advance across the Potomac into Pennsylvania, Robert E. Lee's concerns surrounding danger in Richmond rather than Washington D. C., and the high number of prisoners taken at the Battle of Gettysburg.
