Camp Stocton April 30/63 Dear Sister I received yous of the 26th this morning and was glad to hear that you was well my health is not very good now I have a bad cough and have been laid up for about two weeks with a gathering in my head it broke last satuday it is getting some better now Erastus is well he has five times riding Horses now the men have not drawed their Horses to keep yet each Company has some of all colors to take care of and drill with now but when the Horse are all bought each Co will have Horses of one color our Company got their letter night before last it is the letter A the health of the Regiment is pretty good here now with the exception of colds and gatherings in the head we have had very dry and warm wether here this spring the grass looks green and the leave begin to start I cant tell yet when we will leave here but we will be likely to go some time next month perhaps about the middle we are to as soon as we can get ready we are to go in General Burnsides division of the army we got a letter from Louisa and Mary yesterday Louisa says [illegible] she is a going to work on the farm this Summer Mary said she was [crossed out letter] not very well I have had one letter from Uncle Lymans folks since we got Back they were all well my head Rroars so I cant think of much to write write as soon as you get this Direct to Co A 8th Regt Mich Cavlry Mt Clemens Mich yours in the cause of liberty from your Brother Robert to Helen Rogers
