Nashville. Tenn July 25the, 1863 Dear Sister Malvina your letter was received a few days ago. & read with pleasure & this Morning I will try & write a few lines in return. I with the rest of the Soldiers from that place Enjoy Health. we as a Regiment are quite Healthy. Some are Sick. & in the Hospitals. of Comp. A. Absent in Hospitals A.D. Lile at Louisville, M. Howland, expect at Detroit. E.C. Green in Hospital as nurse I think at Cinsinnatti. John. Calhoun taken Prisoner at Danville. dont know where he is. he will probably be here in a Short time. I dont think of anymore that is about unless discharged. L [crossed out] [Paul] Denel arrived here last week all safe & Sound He seems to feel well now that he is back he sais he had as lives be here as at Home have you heard from James Laird, & the rest of the Boys on the Potomac yet is Harrison Palmer alive yet but it is nearly guard Mounting time & if I send this to day I shall have to do it pretty quick then you think little Hattie is pretty Smart do you I dont know as I blame you any I would write more if I had time but I have not. write soon tell william to write. and all. Albert W Barber the Bugle Sounded before I had time to put this in the Office. & now the mail has gone so I cannot send this until tomorrow lf Philip. A. Carver [illegible] Benedict & myse^ are to Patrool. Sommer. Street. to day 2nd Relief. go on at 12 oclock the mail has just come in I wonder if I will get a letter to day is a warm & Saltry Day. I dont think Murcury Stands less than 100 degrees I think it would make us Sweat to march to day & carry a Knapsack, or to go to Harvesting there I did not get any letter this time so I will have to wait till another time. we got our pay last Week again. two months pay, they owe us now only from the first of July I saw General. Rosencrans, a few days ago there was a Review of all the Troops in & about the City last week by Gen. Rosy - - & a Splendid Sight it was to, thousands came to see. both Soldiers, & Sitisens I cannot think of much to write, so I guess I will tell you our buisness of each day Revilee at half past 5 oclock, in the Morning then in about 15 minutes the Bugle Sounds for the Sick, then all that are Sick go to the [illegible] room, & get Medicine, & if not able for duty are excused by the Doctor.. Breakfast at half past 6. Guard. Mounting at 8.00 when the Guards form in March out, the Officers Inspect the Arms. & Recruitments they then march us back. & divide us up in Small Squads of about 4. two Reliefs. so we have to be out only half of the time Dinner at 12 M. 5 to half past. Squad Drill Supper at 5 P.M. Dress Parade at 6. after which we have Inspection Tattoo or Rollcall at night at half past 8 oclock. Taps or lights out at 9 oclock so goes the Day. one day after another how does the Young Folks get along these times what is wages in Harvesting this year I am not there this year to help William in his Haying. I get rid of Haying this year, & perhaps more than this year write soon & often. all write Albert. W.
