Nashville Apr. 28th /64 My Dear Sister Oliva as I have a few leasure moments I think perhaps it will do no harm if I write a few lines in reply to your kind and acceptable litter which I rec'd in due time I was very glad to hear from you to learn that you are well and also that you think of me and that you Stay with my girl a part of the time I want you to Stay much with her as ^ of the time that your folks can spare you for surely she must be lonesome when there is no one to stay with her you said that your folks have not heard from Pa and you suppose that he has forgot the wright folks or perhaps he has been charmed by one of those wenches well I guess he has not [crossed out] [been] forgotten the folks at home for he said that he had wrote [Written upside down on top of page] excuse all mistakes write soon Direct to box 512 two letters but he had not heard from home.. there are lots of wenches here in this city but their Charming thos who have come from the north is an erroneous idea for the charms of beauty and love are left at home but perhaps some may have a kind of a contraband love but as for me I like those darkeys at a distance better than near by we are all well and I hope this may find you the same there was a few of us went out to the burrying ground we Saw Some very nice monuments out there Albert carver and I went to the reservor with the rest of the Co but while we were looking at the engine the rest of them went away and left us, tell hattie to have a good [illegible] laid up and dried for me this time write soon and as often this is from your Brother William [illegible in original]
