Albert W. Barber writes to his sister Malvina, noting that most of the boys are well, although some are sick. Barber details that he has not seen James in several days as he was sent on duty across the river with A. Crandell. Barber continues by noting that Albert Carver is in poor health and Byran and Barber himself just got off picket duty. Barber acknowledges the idea that a higher power must be helping right prevail, and that the war will come to a close soon. Barber concludes by writing of the large number of people deserting, and details that he does not know if he will reenlist.
