Camp tailor cleveland May the 22nd 

 
Dear sister I Now take my pencil in hand
to let you know that I was Well and
these few lines will find you the same 
is alna well how is hannah and James and
all the rest of the folks I received your letter
Was glad to hear from you I thought that
they had forgotten me We got our arms
to day tomorrow we Get our uniforms
there is over 5000 men in Camp now 1100 leaves
here on payday I am Going with them We go
to mayette on the ohio river opposite to verginia
when I get there I will write and let you
know where to direct your letters Does John 
pain live at home now if he does Write and
let me know tell our folks that i wuld
like to see them mall tell George to Write 
he hass got more paper and time than I have
I dont think of any more at present
