[Separate note with letter] Mother there is so many that have lost their pay by [sending?] it by mail that I wont send it yet unless you kneed it from Alvah this is thre days later from Alvah Lebanon, Ky. Apr 13th 1863 Dear Bro, I Recd your welcome letter yesterday and was happy to hear from you again I am glad your health is good as for me mine is what you may call Bulley. never better. I am by 10 lbs heavier than I ever was before. I think it is a healthier Country here we have done some [tall?] traveling since I last wrote you but we came out the way by water and Railroad we are at a very Plesant little town in Kentuckey now every thing goes off plesent so far not much duty to do and only two drills a day and I think we shall [stop?] here some time unless the rebs make a dash into Kentuckey some whare for it is our business to Keep them out of Ky. we are under command of Burnside gain and if the rebs will let us be we shall have good times our Captn is Provost Marshal of the town we wer Paid at Louis Ville Ky. and I have sent home forty five Dollars. I was oweing ‘some in the Co so I could not send as much as I wanted to as for Mail we wer about three weeks without any in our travel but it comes all right now and I get good news from Home as for Mary J. I have not had a letter from her in some time for I have not had time to answer hers I have a good deal of writing to do for I get letters from so many different ones I hear from Ed. now and then but not any from Augustus Mother says Ed has not sent Home any money yet but Augustus has. and now for something else well I suppose you would like to know what kind of a Country Old Ky. is well I like it better than any state I have bin in yet it looks more like home besides thare is some mighty Pretty Girls here I went to church yesterday and saw some of them one of them lives just out of town alittle way closeby. one of our Picket Post the last time I was on Picket I went to her House and had a fine old chat with her and her Mother they are nice folks Now Alvah you must tell the Boys of the 7th I am all right and wish them well I hope we shall get around togather again you must write often to Mother and cheer her all you can. write to me again soon Yours in [love?] as a Brother Benj F.
