[Written upside down at top of Scan 1] Direct To Co G 8th Mich Infantry VV 9th A.C. Annapolis M.d. [End] Annapolis Md March 26th 1864 Dear Mother & Sister I am anxious to hear from you. for we have recd four Mails now since we come to this place and I have not got a letter yet I think it is strange for I wrote some six letters when we wer in Cincinnati and it seems as if I aught to get an answer from some of them. I am happy to inform you that I am enjoying as good health as usual I am afraid you are sick as I dont hear from you. I wish you would write often or get some one to write for you. I should think Sarah might write if you cannot but I suppose now as I am away she does not think I am worth writing to Mother I wish you would see some one about that [Bond?] of mine and see if it will be good to me if I am not axcepted as a Veteran Volunteer. or not I think it will just the same as if I was axcepted. I suppose I am not a V.V. now and if I am not I never will be. for I enlisted once with a free good will and now if they fail on that agreement they never will get me again. they want us to Muster in again now. But our Boys cant see the point so we will serve out our seventeen Months then :How are you [Mrs] Shoulderstraps (Good Bye) I have bin thinking some of going into the Navy to serve my time out and I think I shall do so if I can get in and all of the Boys that came out with me. then I guess they will wish that they had axcepted us as VVs. When we arived to Annapolis we went [into?] some good Barax for a few days but yesterday we moved out into some tents so you see we are in the tented field once more but it has ben raining now about twenty four hours and is rather soft under foot but I hope it will clear off soon. but I had rather receive a letter from Home than to have it stop raining. it only takes letters four days to come from Home to us so it seems as if we wer close by Home. now Mother as for those Photographs at the Galary I dont know what to tell you about them for I have not got one red cent to send you I expected to get our pay long before this so I have ben out for some time but I get along about as well I guess as if I had plenty. but I want the pictures. and if I can get my Pay before we leave here I want to send you some to get yours and Sarahs taken for I want them with me I guess you will think this is hardly worth reading but if you want any better ones just write and say so then Ill try to improve a little I believe the Fentonville Boys are all sound Billy Cale is left back to Baltimore to take care of their Capt. who is sick as for [Ostin Terry?] I have not seen him today as he is in Co. H. I think Ed. [Harvy?] did the [rong?] thing with him he got him in his Co whare I couldt not do any thing to keep him then let them transfered him to Co. H. whare he is among strangers if he had him in my Co I could have kept him with us with Caps help. Ed. is not a friend of mine any more for he drove me out of Co [Bs. car?] on the [road?]— Give my best Respects to Mr. [Terrys?] folks als all enquiring Friend if thare be any such in Fenton Now Mother do Write soon and often Please excuse this Poor writing for I am cold I remain Your Affectionate Son Frank
