Annapolis Md. [penciled in] [1864] April 21st Dear Mother the present date finds me in good health and doing fine. I went up to Camp yesterday to see the Boys and DeWitt and George Carnes thought we had better send our things Home that we did not want this Summer so I have put up my Vest and and [Oil?] clothe and our Coat the Boots is Georges and one Vest and the other things are DeWitts. Mr Bangs will call for his as soon as he hears of them I suppose you will think I am crazy sending an express Box Home for you to pay the charges on but I thought you could get Mr Terry to get it from the Office and pay the Charges or get the money of Mr Davis. to pay it I did not want to throw the things away and could not sell them for any thing here! and thare is some stir about moving soon as we have had Orders to turn in all our large (A. tents. you will Please write as soon as you get this a as soon as the Box gets Home and tell me what the Charges are on it and I will have the Boys pay me their thirds of it. I do hope Mother that I shall have some money to send you soon but I cant tell when we shall be paid. I am on duty today so you will Please excuse haste I have just received a letter from Augustus today dated Apr 19th he was well at that time he wrote I have not received a word from Alvah for some course I cannot tell why. but I suppose he has so much writing to the Girls that he has forgotten his Bro. Frank the Boys are all well I guess unless it is the Hall Boys they are always Sick or at least their names are always on the sick list I suppose when we leave here I shall go to my Co again but think I shall get a detail in the Hospital Department if there is any Place. the Steward spoke to me some time ago about it.
