Good News Camp Near Fredricksburgh; Va Sunday May 8th /64 My Dearest Mother I now hasten to pen you a few lines to let you know I am all Sound we have had a rather a warm time now for three days but I am all right. our Regt was engaged twice Friday our loss in killed wounded and missing is about one hundred you will Please tell Mr Spauldings Folks. DeWitt is in our list of miss- -ing. but I think he is a prisoner and nothing worse he may still come to us as some of the missing are comeing in today. William Gage, and [crossed out] [Ahra?] Charles [Hubbard?] are wounded slightly also E.M. Havey Lieut [illegible] is a flesh wound in the calf of the leg I guess that is all from Fenton you know as far as I have yet learned. I saw Hiram Whalen today (6th Cav. he says Augustus was wounded slightly Friday, in his leg near the foot Aut Terey was not in the enguage ment tell Rubes Folks he is all right he is in the Ambulance Corpse Billey Cale got his fingures [tipped?] a little I will not stop to mention their names all seperately for I believe they are all sound only those mentioned. I saw Bill _____ Sturges today he is well. ------------- I guess of all the letters you ever saw this will beat them all for I write just what I think first. we are moving all our Wounded into Fredricksburgh as fas as we can. I think we are going to give the Rebs fits now the news are good. thare is a large lot of Reb Prisoners passing here now captured [today?] Well I will not write any more I guess. this time for it is uncertain about sending it but just Keep up good spirits Mother. and Pray for the safety of your Son Frank and I shall try to Pray for myself and I trust I shall come out all safe I think [illegible] that is our Regt has seen its hardest fighting now I think as my Old Captain does I believe the Prayers of my Dear Mother any Christian Friends at Home have a great deal to do with my safety we lost our Col Frank Graves, also Co B: lost their Captain (Hutchison Please give my respects to all friends tell them B.
