Wensday Morning Aug 24th
		Well Mother I will say a word
or two to you this morning as I did not
get Sarahs letter in the Office last night
I am feeling fine this morning for me
I have just finished my breakfast which
consisted of a cup of Chocolate a piece of
roasted Cheese and some soft Crackers
that made me a fine Breakfast.
	I suppose there will be some big
work done here within a week there
is a fair prospect for a big change soon
Our Cavelry Corps went down to the other
R.R. yesterday so the Rebs must leave
Petersburg or Capture those Roads back
which I think they never can do
and I say I think Petersburg will soon 
be ours. at least I hope so our 
men are in good Position all around
and will give the Rebs all they can
wish if they Charge our lines I 
really hope they will try us

    Well Mother one month from
now and we will al know what
they intend to do with us two years Boys
and I intend to keep myself safe until
then, yet and as much longer as I can
now dont fret about me. I am
Pipe maker of the 9th Army Corps
I have whittled out $8.00 from
the Sacred Soil of Old Virginnia
    and no thanks to Jeff Davis either

        But I see it is almost Mail time so I
