			Detroit Dec. 15th
	Dear Mother. I received your
kind letter some time since and was
very glad to hear from you and thankfull
for the good advise given therein.
I have been very Busy Now for a
few days. and my heath is not the
best. Still I am so as to be around
all of the time. I have been taking
Medison most of the time since I
came out here. but it does not seem
to do me much good I think. I will get
better this Winter if I stay here whare
I can take good care of myself.
Dr. Fox was here this A.M. I only saw
him a moment. and I am afraid he
is going to call me away from here
but I don't know what he told
Dr. [Farrond?]. I told him my health was 
poor yet. and I was taking “Medison”

he said he had told Dr. [Farrand?]
about my case so I think they
may! let me stay here.
at least I hope so for I know
if I go to my Company this Winter I will
be sick all the time. and I am going
to stay here if it is a possible thing
	But if now I shall go like a
man without one word and trust
Luck to Protect me, for I do believe he
has watched over me and kept me
from harm since I have been in
the Army.
	But if I do have to go
I shall come home and stay a 
few days if I have to run away
now Mother dont worry about
my not staying for I dont know 
but what I can stay I only
write to you thus so if I 
do have to go you will not
be surprised.. for you know 
that everything is very uncertun

with a Soldier. I have thought
some of coming Home the 
last of this week say Saturday
for three days but I shall not
now as Sunday is a very busy
day with us and I guess I had
better be here to see to things
I have been out on the 
Skating Park two evenings and
enjoyed myself finely
	Oh Mother I recd that Paper
and little Book you sent me. and I
love to read the Book. and I hope
it will do me. good. I intent it
shall. I have strong desire
to become a Christian and hope
I may continue to call upon [God?]
and to call aright that he will bless
me. and I hope you will all Pray for
me at Home that I may.
	But I must hasten to
a Close as it is nearly time for

Supper and I must give my
Medison to the Boys
