Harper Hospital Detroit March 20 Dear Mother, Sister & Bro. I am happy to inform you that I am free again as I left the Pest House this P.M. having been thare two weeks minus one day. with the Small Pox, and now I am back in my old Ward and I feel like a free man I had the Small Pox very nice just enough to make a good thing of it so I need never fear it again and Oh you may be shure I am so glad of it. for now if any of my folks have it I will not fear to care for them and do know how to treat a case of it as well as any one. thare was only one person Died with it in the two weeks I was thare. that was a boy from my Ward the one I took it from. thare is some twenty-five or more thare all the time. in the City Pest House. I suppose you may think strange of my not writing to you for two long weeks but we wer not allowed to write any letters from thare for fear of sending the S.M. in the letters. but I told Augustus to write and tell you where I was so you would know the reason. I understand that some of the Fenton-ites have been pulled out by the last draft all right if they will not go without. I found Augustus and DeWitt both well but I must close as I am tired this is the first day I have been all day off my Bed. Write soon Love to All. from one tired [illegible] Boy B.F. Marsh How. are. you Old Small Pox
