Benjamin says he was happy to begin receiving more letters from home. He notes that he is living in a house with Will Shaw and eight other wounded men and he is responsible for bringing wood and water to the women who cook for them. He reports that Will Shaw is almost back to full health and the doctors credited Benjamin's attentiveness to his recovery.
