New Camp Convalescent March 6th /63 Dear Friend Agness youre letter came to hand last night and I haste to answer it. it found me so as to be around but not so that I am able to do any thing that is work. they have discharged A good many from the work and sent them to their Reg, so that they emtied the Barrack that I was wardmaster and that knocked me out of A job for I am not able to go out of dores to work. I have got A verry bad cough the worst that I have had in two years. there is A good many in this Camp there is A squad comes here most every day from Hospitals and then some leaves here every day for their Regamints they go from here to [Strgelers?] Camp and from there to the Reg. when A Core is called for then all is sent from there that belongs to it sometimes two or three Cores is called in one day. we have had A verrry pleasant winter we have not had much cold weather but it has been verry bad getting around since New Years for it rains or snows about twice A week the ground is redish Clay and it dont take but A little rain to make it verry bad getting around. you say that you are having lots of fun there this winter I would like to be there with you and help have some funn I may get back some time and if i do I will come down and see about it I want to come down there and have A good swing with you for I like to swing so well you Know or go up and slide down hill with the girls. tell youre father if there had of been slaying may be that I would of been along to go down in the woods I dont like to go down there with A waggon the road is so rough. for I think that I would rather be there drawing [Some?] boys than to be here Soldiering it ant so funny as some folks thinks of. I dont look much now as I did last winter I dont know how much that I would weigh but I think about 150 I am the poorest that I have been in A good while. I have not had any pay only A little extry pay since I started from Detroit A little would come good I reckon I dont think of any thing more to write at present My Respects to youre folks and yourself So I bid you good by for this time N.W.
