I have been home all winter, or with the exception of nearly two weeks, I was visiting at Ridgemar. I had a very good visit indeed, went Sleighriding. every day. while gone. We have had considerab sleighing this winter. More than usual. I have it enjoyed ^ much. It is very wet here this Spring Father was anticipating making "Maple Sugar' .Cannot, owing to the amount of water in has the woods. Ben is home now. he ^ been home two weeks. he thinks he is a man. he is nearly as tall as father. he was eighteen Wednesday. Charlie has not answerd his letter yet. he wrote Sometime ago. Tell him to write. Are you going to teach School this summer. I am going to remain at home. I have not been to School in two years. I expect I have finished my education as far as going to School is concerned. I should leave liked to have went this winter. but could not ^ [crossed out word] Is your father going to build this year. Why dont he come out and see us. Mother want to know if your father & mother will have Thier likeness taken, and send to her. She would like them very much Minerva is to Mr Slatters this winter. She is going to Mr Custer again. in the summer Ben & I went there this winter. and she was home a few weeks ago her health is very good. Jane is to Lockport: She is very well for her. Aunt Betsy. says she stays alone the year around. only when Georg James (she meant Amy) staid with her Ellen Rockwood has been there some. her Step.mother wont have her to house. She lives to George Ferguson most of the time She is a Smart girl. Rockwood has traded farm with Mr Griswold on the Ridge. Their son James is married to Mary Jane [Swick?]. perhaps you reacollect her. She lives acrossed the road from us. Mr Palmatin Son has gone to war. It is very healthy here. We quilted a quilt last week. And have got two more to quilt. we will put one on tomorrow ter I have knit Seven pairs of mittens this win^ I sold two pair for a dollar. we have commenced to make another rag carpet. I expect it will take two years. to get rags enough. we wear our cloths so close. they are not fit for a carpet: Cotton cloths are very dear here. Calico 15 cts. I have got to have a new one. Mary is very well. her eyes trouble her. and so does Jim's. Cora is well and full of mischief I was up there last week. Tell your Mother. that Mother has not got used to her teeth yet: She thinks they are more trouble than profit: Father is going to have some. His health is very poor and has been for the past year. he keeps around most of the time. Do you hear from Uncle Lewis people often. how are thy getting along.
