Coomer July 8th 1863 Dear Cousin Agness, I am allmost ashamed to write, after after waiting so long. but have been very busy since I recieved your letter & likeness. we have had a great deal of company, nearly every day somebody.. You will be surprised no doubt. when I tell you I was married. the 23rd of June. was married at Wilsons. went from there to Mr Lovell, father, in Lockport. where I remained. until Friday the 26, when I came home, & he started for Gen Hooker [illegible due to tear in paper] [Meade?].) Head Quarter, where he is to be Corresponding Clerk. he goes as a citizen Get $75 per month, & draws his rations I shall stay at home most of the time this summer. all though he is very ancious I should board at his father. It would be [pleasant?] no Doubt, to live in Lockport but I prefer remaining at home. Mr Lovell has been in the Army two years Enough of this It is very warm. & has been for the last week. we had a little shower yesterday. Father commenced haying to-day. Wheat is nearly ready to harvest. We have sheared our sheep had about: 900 lb. it is bringing 65cts. there is not much market, however. I have not been to see Jane yet: Ben & I talk of going Sunday. I was to [illegible] yesterday. They are getting along well Aunt Betsy is well. she lives alone. She has a pig & four chickens. Minerva was home Saturday. & went back [Sunday?] where did you go the fourth. It was [illegible due to tear in paper] celebrated here, nearer then Buffalo, Ben & his girl, & another couple went to Buffalo. they had a nice time. Well I [started?] a home. in the fore-noon.. in the afternoon.called on Mrs [two words illegible] formerly Melissa Olaphant. She has been very sick with the Jaundice. & went also the poor house, & Mineral Springs. had a good time. where did you go. Your likeness is a very good one. I will send mine next time. Aunt Betsy, is going to have hers taken, Are you at home tell me all the news. How is your Ma. I will send you pieces of my dresses. Ma is going to get me a brown silk. I did not get anything new to be married in. I dont believe in it. I did not get me a bonnet: only a white straw hat. trimmed with Straw. lace & velvet. it was only $3. I have had a cloak $8. & that is all. Mother is making [illegible due to tear in paper]. we have six Cows. Butter is 16cts [illegible due to tear in paper] Charlie goes to school they will send his likeness. perhaps we will have theirs taken together, or would you choose to have mine seperate. we are going to have fruit plenty. as much as we had last year. we are going to commence to day [illegible] to morrow.
