Annapolis Maryland August 4th 63 Dear sister once more I take my pen in hand to try and write you a few lines to let you know how I am getting along I am still able to be about but not quite as well as when I last wrote to you we left Frederick the next day after I wrote that letter and we went to Boltimore and sunday we came to anapolis where I am at presant and shall probily stay for some time yet my wound is healing [crossed out] [up] up some but after trying to convince my self and other folks that the bone was not injured I was obliged to confess it was for I had four peices taken out one morning and I am afrade that it will be some time before it gets well but I hope for the best I have not received any leter since I came here which will be three weeks next sunday I have not hered from our regiment since I left it but once and then I herd that it suffered conciterable the day that I was wounded our captain was hit in the knee by aspent ball the same day you must excuse all mistakes for my hand trembles so that I can hardly hold my pen as well as ashort letter John [Hocom?] the young man that used to live with Mr Flints folks is here wonded through the hip he belongs to the fifth Infantry he says that [two words illegible] is first Leiutenant Give my best respects to all please write soon and let me know how you all get along Please direct to U.S. Army General hospital Annapolis, Maryland
