Remount. Camp. Pleasent. Valley. MD March 5th 1864 Dear Brother and Sister With pleasure I take my pen this morning to write you afew lines to let you know that I am still blessed with good health and I hope that these few lines may find you in the enjoyment of the same I got a long very well on my return trip untill I got to Baltimore and I had to stay there from saturday night untill monday morning but then I started for Winchester and got there by the time my furlough was out but to late to join the regiment for they had broke Camp in the morning and moved up the valley and Sent all the dismounted men [crossed out] [up] th and waggons back to harpers ferry and I had to walk back with the train Some 25 miles and [crossed out] [now] now I am at dismounted Camp the place where all the cavalry [play onto?] Stay to get rid of going to the front but I think that I Shall leave here as soon as posible I got a letter from george Since I got back From the movements of the army I Should think. that there is Something done pretty Soon in the neighbor hood of richmond and I hope that it will be the death blow to the rebelion there will be some pretty hard fiting done this Spring There is Some 20 of our company here in this camp becides 12 or 14 [crossed out] [recruits] recruits and there is 170 men for the regiment I hope that they will Soon mount us and send us to the regiment Please write soon and both of you write Since those [patents?] have been disposed of you will have more time to devote to your friends, for the present direct to Remount.
