Sheradon went through laSt night I Saw one of your. company he Said that you had not got up to the reigment yet they Stoped here two nightS and left here thiS morning we drawed rationS for. four gone dayS but we have not ^ with them yet but thare may be Some fighting yet here [crossed out] [yet] they are Sending men to the left of uS thare iS a big move in Some direction for the rebS. are in atight place or Soon will be if they do not make abreak Some whare they broke the lineS in our third brigade and took Some of our men priSinors and one of our fortS and Spiked [crossed out] [one] four of our gunS but they brought up Some troopS from their rear and from the left and formed four lineS of battle and drove them out of the fort and took [crossed out] [2000] 25 hundred priSiners and killed almoSt a [thoughand?] of their men and got our workS backagain we loSt 500 men [crossed out] [five] of our ^ the [crossed out] [14] fourteenth [illegible] [illegible] ware taken by [illegible] the rebS for they found them aSleep and tok their picketS without firing gun the fight laSted four or five houreS the laSt I heard from home they ware all well we are in the firSt diviSion and firSt brigade of the [crossed out word] ninth [crossed out] [an] army [work?] but good by for thiS Time George.
