The young folk came here in the evening. I did not go any where. nor get nothing. Christmas we had a tree. to Charlott. I got: a work. basket: Collar & cuffs. Napkin ring. bottl of perfumeing. Ben got a watch, mother a [hood?] in the evening of Christmas I went to an [Oystir?] Supper. in the day time.we had company. Where did you go; we have had a ltitle sleighing. this winter. there is some snow on the ground now. but rather poor sleighing. Minerva has been to [Jane?], & staid two weeks. they both came to [Jim?] yestirday. [Jane?] health is very good also Minerva. Aunt Betsy went to Charlott Wednesday. but is coming home to day. She is well. Do you go to School this winter, Ben goes to Lockport but has been quite sick. with Diphthera this last week. [Terry?] and Charlie goes here Mr Williams teaches now. they dismised their first one. Friday I am going to West Point: 60 miles this side of New York. to spend the winter. Mr Lovell is there this winter. we are going to board, if he stays there next summer we will no doubt go to house-keeping I am anticspating a pleasant time this winter, I am going to Lockport to. morrow. James Barber has enlisted from our neighbourhood I have had a brown silk. this winter have never worn it: it is made [possibel?] [illegible], flowing sleeves. trimmed with lace & bugle trimming. it is pretty. I think. Aunt Betsy had had a [illegible] dress this winter. I made it for her I have had a new hat; black with a white & red feather. & red & black [ribband?] lining is blue & black [ribband?] & black & white feather, they are called turbans, do you have them there, when you write please direct to [Amy?] I will write you, & tell you where to direct to me, Love to all. and a share for yourself even your Cousin Rosa Dear Cousin E I will scratch a few lines to you as Rosa was writing to Agness. I go to School this winter & I suppose you do the same. Rosa is going down to West Point and stay the rest of the winter if you will send me your picture I will send you mine I suppose that Ben will send his to Charlie I am going to have mine taken this weak if nothing happens Jane came home yesterday (that is Satturday) why dont you come out and see us I suppose Charlie dont have any thoughts of Enlisting.
