Greenbush Feb 28 62 Dear Brother Sister and nephew I have taken up my pen to write you a few lines to let you know that we have not forgotten you though I sertainly owe you an apology for not writing sooner but I have been so busy that I couldnot get time Business has been quite lively even on our little island for the past month George and Theron has drawn out about five thousand foot of oak logs to sell, they drawed in thirteen logs for me for my own use they have also taken up ten or twelve cords of wood Mr Diller has been cutting and drawing wood off of Dotys Mr Greenwood has been drawing rails from there for the past few draw days and has four hundred yet to ^ Theron and Mary started for his fathers yesterday morning he took five hundred feet of pine lumber to cover his [mills?] with Mother is just sixty one years old to day it dont seem posible I wish I had your oxen here for a couple of momths I believe I could keep them busy part of the time at least It has not been decided yet whither E G is to come out thare to work or not but I think it is rather doubtful Well I Shall have to stop for want of items write soon give my best respect to every body we are well and hoping this will find you the Same I Sign myself Vincent S Mattoon P S please excuse all bad writing
