Rosaltha says her mother is getting old, so she has to take on more responsibilities around the house and farm. Further on in the letter, she writes that she is "sick" of housework. She mentions that the youngest brother of her "Pa" was wounded five times in battle and may have to get an amputation. Rosaltha describes her summer clothes and her alterations to the skirt, after which she states that she loves to sew.
