John H. Flood of Glynn County, Georgia enlisted March 1862 as a private in Company H, Georgia 11th Infantry Battalion. He transferred to Company H, Georgia 47th Infantry Regiment on 12 May 1862 and mustered out on 26 Apr 1865 at Greensboro, NC. This collection consists of one letter, dated July 14, 1863, written by a Confederate soldier, John Flood, Company H, 47th Regiment, Georgia Volunteers, to his mother in Woodstock, Georgia. He discusses the fall of Vicksburg and Grant's siege of Jackson, Mississippi. A photocopy of the letter is also included.
