Savannah Georgia Jan 11th, 1865 Dear Wife and Children I take my Pen in hand to Let you know that i am well and hope this will find you all well also i have not heard from you Since i Last Wrote you which was on New years Day i should have Wrote again Sooner then i did but was away on Gard Duty 3 days about the time i wanted to write Elizabeth i want you to see that my taxes are Paid the marsh 40 as well as the one at home and if you do not no the description of it you will have to get unckel George or some won els to do it for it you i think it is the [illegible in original] see 9 but i am not shure and when you get all the taxes paid send me word how mutch that are i woould lend you mone to Pay it with but i have got non as i have not drawen aney Pay yet since we have been hear that i hope you have Got all the money that i have sent you i Shall not Write you a verry Long Letter this time as i have not mutch to Write till i hear from you again i am messing now with Deek Denio and Ben Brown that are Boath well George and Charly are boath well thay are have not yet been Discharged but their time is out and i think that will be Discharged in a fiew Days all i have Ever heard from Lute Since i left him is what you have told him in your Letters and the other Day George Got a letter from the Old man Price stateing that Lewis was at Jefferson ville Indiana and i hope he is at home before this we have been hear at this Place just one month not that is Since we first invested the placed but you must write to me oftener then you do as i am Geting
